Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer Reviews

4.5 Rating 262 Reviews
I received this ear thermometer from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was expecting it to take awhile to get the thermometer connected to the app on my phone but I was wrong. It was super easy to do. The thermometer seemed to take temperatures very quickly and accurately. I set up profiles for myself and my 5 year old daughter. You have the option to save a temperature to each profile, so if there is more than one child that's sick, you can keep track of each kiddos temperature separately. I can see this being a huge benefit when you're sleep deprived and trying to keep track of which child needs medication and the presence of a fever (or not, hopefully!). Overall, I'd recommend this thermometer to all parents - it seemed to work quickly and well. I do wish the thermometer had different options - to take temp in the ear, on the forehead, etc.

This is the third Kinsa Thermometer I have owned since the original stick thermometer for the iPhone. This thermometer is pretty handy. Quick accurate readings and the App keeps track of your temperatures. Highly recommend this thermometer.

This thermometer makes life so much easier with out toddler. There get the little guy to sit Still while we used a traditional thermometer was all but impossible. I love how you also have the app connected so you can see trends of illness. It helps keep things in perspective. This company stands by their product if there are issues and that is something I truly appreciate in this day and age.

Readings always low.

Hi Gregory! If your Smart Ear is always giving low readings like this, it's usually caused by some dirt or debris which has gotten stuck on the sensor. If there's anything that blocks the sensor from getting a line of sight to the ear canal, it can produce the always-low readings you mentioned. The best way to fix this is to clean the sensor window with a cotton swab and alcohol (see kinsa.help/SmartEarAccuracy) and to use the proper technique of straightening the ear canal to get the best readings possible. (see the video at kinsa.help/SmartEarTechnique) But if neither of these help, we definitely want to know! Send us a quick note at kinsa.help/ContactUs and we'll do whatever it takes to make this right for you. - The Kinsa Customer Happiness Team

Hello! We're so sorry your Smart Ear died on you like this. We stand behind every thermometer we make and we'll absolutely make this right for you. It's hard to say without seeing what you're seeing, but this could be a fluke failed firmware update. If you haven't already, please try replacing the batteries. If that doesn't fix it, go into your Kinsa app > Settings > Smart Ear > Thermometer Recovery > Follow the on-screen instructions. And if that still doesn't fix it, let us know at kinsa.help/ContactUs and we'll take care of you! - The Kinsa Customer Happiness Team

In the first three months I used it 2 to 3 times daily. Except for the first two readings, none since even approached average ie: 98.6. The 11:00 p.m. often read 93.4! I spoke with my physician who recommended that I replace it. May I exchange?
