The LO error happens when a reading is too low to be human body temperature, and it's usually because the sensor didn't get a good line of sight to your ear canal.
This can be more common if the same thermometer is being used to take multiple family members' readings as it can be easy for debris to get caught on the sensor and throw off readings.
If you haven't already, please be sure to clean the sensor window - with alcohol! The alcohol really helps to clear the sensor of any debris.
