“I really like how fast this thermometer is to set up and to use. My daughter got a cold last week and, especially given the pandemic, we were concerned when she started running a fever. I really appreciated that the thermometer gave me a reading in under 2 seconds, a must for any squirmy sick child. I found that the temperature reading did vary depending on how I angled it, so I sometimes retook the reading a few times, especially if it was on the border of being a fever or not, for which I deducted one star. It seemed to be very comfortable for the kids: neither of my children complained about any discomfort when I asked how it felt to "tickle their ears" with the thermometer.
My husband and I both easily downloaded the app to our phones and coordinated our use and tracking of the kids' temperatures, which is a fantastic feature and helped us communicate with the doctor and monitor the temperature and medicine dosages properly. Especially when parents are woken up in the middle of the night with a sick kid, it's amazing to have access to that info and a fast-working device to help everyone get more sleep.

“I was able to very quickly get the app set up and add multiple profiles for my two children. Set up was intuitive and easy to follow; my only concern was tracking of information but the app allows you to opt-out of that or choose to share information for virus and trend tracking. I love that the app keeps track of temperatures (you can save readings to different profiles), so that in the middle of the night when I'm exhausted from caring for a sick toddler, I can easily know if their temperature has gone up significantly or not. I also found the thermometer itself super easy--one button operation--and accurate given it's an ear reading. “My two older children are in school and part of their daily check in process is for parents to screen for temperatures at home and report through the school's fever tracking app. The thermometer we were using previously frequently gave us inconsistent temperature readings, so we were very excited to try the Kinsa thermometer as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.
The app was very easy to use and navigate. I love that you can create different profiles for family members. Since I have to take two different readings every morning it makes it easy to track which reading is for each child for school reporting. My kids liked being able to pick their avatar, something that seems so trivial but helped my kids be more cooperative with temperature checks.
This thermometer is FAST when it comes to temperature checks, which is a HUGE win for our family. I have a 3 year old that I have to report on, and it is hard to get him to sit still for a reading. The Kinsa works quickly, so I am not wrestling down a small child.
I compared it to my previous thermometer by doing multiple temperature checks. We consistently got the same reading when checking our children, as compared to our old one that would fluctuate .4 degrees per reading.
I do wish that it came with the ear sanitizer plastic tip cover that you can change out with each person that uses it, but it wasn't a huge deal breaker. Overall the design is standard, it doesn't look fancy or like a technical gadget, but it is pretty nifty to use. I am happy with the product, the readings it provides and the ability to track temperatures in an app.”
“I was given this ear thermometer to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It couldn't have arrived at more perfect time as the whole household was not feeling great. Setting up the thermometer in the app was fast and easy. There were many features of the app that were incredibly helpful including the symptom assessment and tips for dealing with those symptoms.
The thermometer worked quickly, which we all know is helpful with sick kids. However, we did find that the sensor end was a little bit too large for my 4 year olds ear to get an accurate reading. Overall, we are very happy with the thermometer but will stick with using it on the older kids.”
“I hope I'm not the only mom who goes to take an ear temp only to realize I don't have any more probe covers, so I was so excited to try out the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer (probe cover free!) as a member of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. We tested this out A LOT since I need to take my 3yo's temp every school day for COVID screenings. I also appreciated that it was app connected and could save temperatures. This saved me a couple times when I took the temp before leaving the house then totally forgot what it was by the time we got to school and needed to report it at check in.

(=) The probe tip needs to be cleaned with alcohol swabs even though the item is water resistant. I don't often have rubbing alcohol on hand, though I always have soap and water!
(-) Every time you store a temperature in the app, it asks you a series of questions regarding related symptoms. Since I'm usually taking temps for school screenings, it's annoying to have that pop up every time.
(-) I think the app can be a little alarmist if you get a high or low reading. I'd recommend it be programmed to suggest you take the temperature again, or in the other ear, a few times before saying "Call your Doctor"
Overall:
Thermometer takes accurate, quick readings and the app lets you store the information to track temps over time (helpful for both sickness and health!). It was very easy to clean, and study enough with the included probe protector to keep in my purse for on-the-run to school screening.”
“I have been on the lookout for an accurate and fast ear thermometer. I have two busy boys that don't want to sit still for long and I like to check the temperature often before school. The app is awesome! I will use this often next school year to monitor temp and also any symptoms they might have. It will be very helpful at doctor visits since everything is time stamped and I can record medications and symptoms, as well. I tested on myself and compared it to a basal body thermometer. “I really like the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer! The thermometer was really easy to set up with the app, and I was glad batteries were included so I didn't have to go digging to find some in my drawers. I love that this thermometer can be used for all ages, so I set up profiles for me, my husband, my toddler son and infant daughter. The process was very easy!
I tested the Kinsa Thermometer on all members for my family, and it seemed to read accurately. I love had the app is so detailed and gives advice based on the temperature and age. I LOVED how quickly I was able to take my son's and daughter's temperatures with just a quick press of a button! They're always on the move so taking their temperature can be tricky at times!
So far I am very impressed with the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer. It has been trading accurately, and I'm hopeful it will continue working well. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I can't speak about how reliable it is. However, the app is incredibly easy to use, and taking my children's temperature is incredibly easy! “The Kinsa Smart Ear thermometer takes temperature readings very quickly. If you have kids, you know how hard it can be to get them to sit still to take a temperature reading. This thermometer is fast and we had no issues with our daughter. I found the readings to be accurate and consistent. The app was easy to use and was also visually appealing. I particularly like that it keeps the temperatures of your family members so you have a record of all temperature readings over time.. Another cool feature of the app is the section to 'Check You Local Illness Risk". You can click the link and put in your zip code to view the Flu and COVID-19 risk in your area. One thing I noticed that is that when my wife and I both had the app on our phones, the thermometer pairs to the phone that used it last.
