“I purchased a mini jar of the active algae moisturizer. It works ok so far, but the smell of this product is awful. It just smells bad. I’d prefer no smell at all. It’s not a light smell, either. It’s an obvious smell and it’s not good.”
“I'm pretty picky when it comes to moisturizers.
I tend to prefer light-weight gel textures that absorb easily. I'm also a bit averse to products that are overly (and at times unecessarily) scented. Since Kora products lean in the opposite direction, I knew I was taking a gamble, but my sincere appreciation for their organic, ethical and love-based approach to skincare led me to take a chance on their Algae Moisturizer.
The product itself is packaged quite well; from the shipping box presentation to the adorable gold-topped jar, everything has the look of a premier product that is going to deliver. The actual product however is quite bad.
This moisturizer doesn't absorb quickly, it applies like a pasty sunscreen and sits on the skin. The smell is off-putting too; whatever is actually "active" in this Active Algae Moisturizer is way too active. Hyper-active. The combination of Rose, Geranium and Basil is an olfactory misfit, leaving your nostrils crying out, "What the heck is this?"
I had actually put this on before bed. On the way to my bedroom I stopped and said, "What Am I doing!?"
There was no way I was going to go to sleep with this smelly stuff slathered all over. I washed it off, threw the product away and tossed the rest of the jars in the trash. No recyling. No thought for beloved Mother Earth. Just done. Over.
I'd advise skipping this one, at least until Kora makes some major revisions to the formula. There are far better moisturizers out there.”
