Hold with one hand and lean slightly forwards over the aerator so that you can apply gently downward pressure on the shaft with the other hand. Now walk forwards and aerate. At the end of the run, pull it up and DROP it into position for the next run (watch your toes though); this sticks it well into the lawn ready to aerate....it's that simple.TIP: If you've got a lot of lawn to do cut some foam pipe insulation and cover the handle - very comfy

So, I brought the aerator to replace the sandals type. I have put it together and had a practice. The roller does need further weight on it, I used a hand dumbbell weight as per the you tube videos. Not sure about how well it will wear yet?

Good quality lawn spiker. No problem to put together and a great addition to my lawn kit.

Slightly fiddly, but simple to assemble, despite the limited instructions. Easy to use, especially after watching the Lawnsmith video. Did a better than expected job, which is now reflected in a much improved lawn.

Works perfectly, had to wet the ground first to soften but once soft it worked a treat.

Easier to use on damp or recently wet lawns. I found it really easy to use and free moving and aerated a 100 square metre lawn in less than an hour.

This is a little gem easy to put together Good quality .you'll need a decent spanner as one you get with it is too thin. and screws handle could do with being a bit longer. saying that it worked well used it after overnight rain worked a treat probably be a bit more difficult on fimer soil.it gives you a good workout but worth it.a few days later I can see a difference in the grass.
