Hold with one hand and lean slightly forwards over the aerator so that you can apply gently downward pressure on the shaft with the other hand. Now walk forwards and aerate. At the end of the run, pull it up and DROP it into position for the next run (watch your toes though); this sticks it well into the lawn ready to aerate....it's that simple.TIP: If you've got a lot of lawn to do cut some foam pipe insulation and cover the handle - very comfy

The product works nicely but my major criticism is with the assembly of the studs. It took me almost two hours and a lot of effort to make sure that all the studs were screwed in fully and there are still a couple that I couldnt fully screw in. The studs should come already assembled. A very frustrating assembly.

Looks robust. Not used yet as lawn is very dry and hard due to exceptionally dry spring. Will use after rain when spikes will penetrate softer top surface of lawn.

Good luck assembling this thing. The plastic channels dont hold the bolts tight enough so they spin. You will then have to grab them with pliers but they will slip and massacre your hand. It works well once assembled but expect to lose a bit of skin and possibly your temper in the process.

easy to assemble.could probably do with being a bit heavier on the roller to help with ground penetration.would recommend soaking the lawn first.

Takes a bit of time to put together (each spike has to be fitted and tightened individually) but easy to use and goes to a good depth on the lawn.
