Hold with one hand and lean slightly forwards over the aerator so that you can apply gently downward pressure on the shaft with the other hand. Now walk forwards and aerate. At the end of the run, pull it up and DROP it into position for the next run (watch your toes though); this sticks it well into the lawn ready to aerate....it's that simple.TIP: If you've got a lot of lawn to do cut some foam pipe insulation and cover the handle - very comfy

This took about 40 minutes to put together but it was quite easy to do. The price is good it does the job very well and is easy to use. I would recommend this to someone with a small to medium sized garden. My grass seemed to instantly look better. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Used a couple of times. Fairy straightforward to assemble and it seems to be robust. Noted that it works best on moist soil.

Easy to assemble and well made.Only blip (and probably my fault) was that I may have overtightened some of the spikes which compressed the plastic and some of the spikes are not totally upright. I did this as some people say that the spikes can come loose.Anyway I used it when the day after a heavy shower when the ground was softer. It worked really well and the lawn looks better some weeks later. I will use it regularly to let air water and fertiliser get to the roots and to hopefully prevent compaction of the lawn. Limitations are that it only spikes to 2 so wouldnt have much effect if the compaction was deeper in the subsoil. I would also imagine that you would need to weight it down to penetrate badly compacted soil.Overall a very good product.
