Hold with one hand and lean slightly forwards over the aerator so that you can apply gently downward pressure on the shaft with the other hand. Now walk forwards and aerate. At the end of the run, pull it up and DROP it into position for the next run (watch your toes though); this sticks it well into the lawn ready to aerate....it's that simple.TIP: If you've got a lot of lawn to do cut some foam pipe insulation and cover the handle - very comfy

Once assembled the aerator works. Assembling the spikes was impossible with the nylon nuts. Then a struggle to get them off and use the alternative nuts which do work.

Great little product well made and quite sturdy. Its obvious that it wont have enough weight to penetrate the turf without some help and you can push down on it which is pretty hard work. However if you slip a couple of 4Kg barbell weights over the handle it works very well and is easy to operate.Pushing the roller tends to rip up the turf as the spikes impbedded to their full 2in length pull out and tear the grass. Pulling the roller gives much cleaner holes and is much less work.

Excellent product but will take some time to build up so do nt expect to be using it immediately after delivery.Once you put it together its a great tool should have bought one years ago.The Lawnsmith video on how best to use it was brilliant.

Id like to see this pulled from store whilst the re-designed model comes in. Only really let down buy the nails rotating in the housing when tightening up
