This is not a problem with this unit but is a problem with ALL hollow tines whether manual or powered. Ensure the soil is soft enough to penetrate but is not too soft that it 'squiggies' and blocks. A one metre piece of 10mm doweling can be poked into the tine to clear any blockage without bending down. Sometimes it is trial and error until you get the soil consistency right.TIP 2 Clear or Smash Cores: Don't leave the cores on the lawn. Either use the flat back of a landscapers rake to collect them or let them dry and go over them with a rotary mower to smash them. This distributes the soil as a top dressing but only works if your mower instructions allow it to be used without the box. Wear eye, face and leg protection.

Does not push cores out as demo in video with perfect garden even after sharpen if tines video should explain that it will not produce cores on anything less than perfect soil and its difficult removing blocked up tines even after the soils have had rain so all it is doing is compacting soil underground when you remove tool as there will be holes which is contradicting purpose of tool

The lawn was very compacted following a winter of abuse of the lawn. The whole lawn had become a building site!! I found it difficult to use but my husband managed it ok. The ground needs to be soft.

A good product that does the job. It is a device that requires high levels of effort to use when you have heavy clay soil even after significant watering. It might be enhanced by widening the foot pressure plate as I ended up with plantar fasciitis.

Unfortnately my lawn is heavy compacted clay. The clay would not come out of the core so i only managed 6 insertions into the ground and then it wouldnt go in any more. I have left the clay to dry and will have to remove it.
