This has been replaced by the improved green spreader. The principals of operation are the same and they do the same job but this latest model has an improved warranty to 3 years and sturdier construction.MaintenanceFertiliser, being a salt, is highly corrosive so all spreaders should be thoroughly hosed out after use, air dried completely and all exposedmeal parts sprayed and/or wiped with a light oil such as WD40 or a  silicone spray. Corrosion is not covered by the warranty. Cleaning and maintenance videos here.Buying Guides

Easy to use. Much more even spread than a wheeled one.

Happy with this purchase. Rookie error made during first use and application. I set the correct aperture opening as per the recommended number but I did not realise that the hand trigger had two settings - the pre-set one and fully open. I wrongly assumed the trigger was set but when I applied full pressure the aperture fully opened. Best look at the handle mechanism and practice to get to the pre-set aperture opening.

A replacement for an earlier model where the gearbox locked solid. I am still getting used to the settings but am happy. It may very well be a happy conjunction of the weather + Lawnsmith advice + some lucky actions but this is the best my lawn has looked in 10 years. And that after the utter devastation wrought by last years summer heat.
