Great upgrade from the Alpha 100 I have been using for years. Much easier to see the display in full sun. Im still getting fully aquainted with the new features, but I really like the ability to toggle the Stimulation buttons between groups with buttons for quick changes while running multiple dogs.

I've had the Garmin Alpha 300i for a few months now and have used nearly daily for runs and training with my dogs. In short, the unit has all the updates and features that are described in the product description - among these that I appreciate are longer battery life, much brighter/detailed screen, redesigned feature arrangement and sizes on the screen, fast updating, and a logical layout. The device feels solid and well-built instilling cofidence that the unit should give seasons of consistent, high quality performance. There are features I have to use and/or discover, but for now, can say the 300i delivers as advertised. I do think the recommendation by the seller to go for the 300i over other models (though a big decision) was the right decision for me.

After watching a setup video, I was able to set up my Alpha 300i and link my two new TT25s as well as my Garmin Fenix 7x Solar watch - what an amazing set of technology. I track my dog with a quick glance to my wrist. The Alpha 300i was relatively easy to set up and use during my annual trip to North Dakota Pheasant hunting. the inReach technology was a nice feature to give me a piece of mind as I trudged through many miles of backcountry where there was no cell phone signal. After finally making the upgrade from my Astro 220 with the DC 30 Collar purchased in 2009, I found Garmin had fixed the only real issue I had - when my dog was on point, my Garmin Astro text was covered and I had to wait for the point message to disappear to know the distance to my dog... fixed on the Alpha 300i, but still an issue when using my Garmin watch to track the location of my dog. The cost was high - but well within acceptable levels when compared to the overall cost of hunting birds in multiple states and well worth the upgrade if you can afford it.
