“Actually, there is a huge amount of capability here for the dollar, and probably more than most people will need, but it is always nice to have! Handheld unit is surprisingly rugged; I would suggest getting the D-Ring loop accessary so you can hang this device on anything. I would also suggest getting an after- market antenna for better gain (154-156MHz is the target frequency), unfortunately the antenna issue is on the tracking collar. The advertised link range is 9miles, and as a RF Communications engineer, i can tell you that this really is not even possible in pure theory (1/4W into a pretty poor performing antenna (as used)) - 2miles is a good expectation in nominal hunting (foliage, uneven terrain, poor earth, weather). Screen is bright, controls are easy to use w/wo gloves. My purpose of this purchase was insurance against losing a dog as we hunt in the extreme North of Maine. Great to use just as a personal GPS as it has all the goodies of a high-end Garmin. Cannot comment of training aspect (e-Collar) as i didn't need that functionality, but i can always easily purchase a different collar unit.”
