“Great protective vest for my hard hunting GSP. Good fit, does not bunch or create chafing around the legs or belly area. Perfect weight for late fall and winter hunting. Holds up well to briars, brush, and other heavy cover. Usually get 2 seasons out of vest before needing to replace. Washes easily. Best vests I have ever purchased and is reasonably priced compared to other brands. LCS is my go to for all my bird dog supplies.”

“I think this version is a good step up from the standard product and worth the money. However, I hunt where it is very brushy and my dogs are pretty bold and within 1-2 seasons they will: strip all of the reflective tape off, so why bother stitching it on, and they will also pull the stitching out for the closure straps by brush busting, which I have re-stitched with a sewing awl. I recommend the straps be stitched on the inside of the vest versus the outside so the stitching can't be affected by brush, and perhaps the straps should completely surround the dog's chest. Just my $0.02.”

“I have worked as a hunting guide at a large, private upland game preserve for several years and I guide several hunts weekly from October through March. I have used Bird Dog Armor vests on my dogs for five years. The vests are visible to hunters and they help keep the dogs warm in winter conditions. The brush guard on the underbelly is a big plus when dogs run through brush and corn stubble. Unfortunately, the three nylon straps that hold the vest on the dogs consistently come unsewn. They have detached from virtually every Bird Dog Armor vest I have owned, which are several, and I have to take them to a seamstress who sews them back on with commercial-grade thread. The stitching around the leg holes also unravels. To their credit, Lion Country Supply has always replaced the vests. But it's a bother having the vest come off in the middle of a hunt. It's also time-consuming and costly to take them back and forth to a seamstress. This could still be a good protective dog vest for the serious hunter/ guide so long as the manufacturer reinforces the straps and stitching. As it's made currently it's a good recreational-use dog vest.”
