OPTI NXT Switch Rod Reviews

5 Rating 1 Reviews
I have the 11'6" 5wt. Love the way the mid and butt section engages if you load the rod lower down when casting or playing fish. I find 11'6" length very usefull for line management and aids in picking up sinking line (for a switch rod). Very light in hand and has perfect length of cork on the handle in my opinion. So far, I like casting Scandi line of about 275 grain. Or if I am casting Skagit, I would use short Skagit (11' to 13') of about 275 grain with 100 to 150 grain tip. I think it is equivalent to light #4 or #3 American rated Trout-Spey/Switch rods in power, and feels great playing fish averaging 2 to 3 lb from my local river. I have a few "trout spey" rods, but Opti NXT has become my favourite of the bunch. Love it!
