I've enjoyed our purchases from Mackenzie Ltd., but my concern is cost and shipping fees. I wish there were convenient retail stores.

I wanted to have a very special dinner for some close friends and loved the idea of fixing a Beef Wellington. I have never made one before and saw Mackenzie offered them. I bought them and they were SO EASY to prepare. Everyone absolutely loved them! I will do that again at some time. The Mackenzie food is all so delicious!

I ordered this to make a special Christmas dinner for just the two of us but it proved disappointing. Needs more seasoning. It did have some of the interior mushrooms but I am not sure that really qualified as duxelles. I spotted some complete slices of small mushrooms of the sort seen in canned mushrooms that I sometimes use in my own cooking. The actual cooking of them worked fairly well although the temperature instructions proved tricky because the specified temperatures were lower than available on my meat thermometers. A second batch I made for New Year's turned out slightly better, perhaps because I decided to use a double layer of parchment paper underneath to guard against soggy crust. Also, I dribbled some Worchestershire sauce on the meat as I was eating it. I felt that buying a good steak and cooking it the way I usually do would have been a better choice.
