“The cut of meat was high quality; no gristle or chewy bits. The duxelle had good mushroom flavor. The pastry cooked all the way through and came out nice and golden. It did take an extra 5 minutes of baking to get the temperature up to 135°F. We shared one serve since we are not big eaters and that worked us.
We had a competitor's version a few days ago. It was only a 3.5 in our opinion. I suspect the preparation instructions for the Mackenzie version would produce a better result. We are looking forward to the next three Mackenzie beef wellingtons and reordering .”
“Unfortunately, my most recent order of beef wellington was a huge disappointment. The beef was gray in color, and cooked at the minimum recommended time, was still well done. There was virtually no mushroom puree and the overall flavor was bland. I do not recommend this purchase. However, the twice baked potatoes were fine.”
