“The total package (TOP!):
- Ordering, payment and delivery worked just as smoothly as quickly.
- In addition to high-quality wooden plates, from which the parts can be easily removed, the package also contains a comprehensive glossy instruction book (71 pages).
- At the beginning, you remove a few parts from the plates, from which you assemble a tool that helps you to remove parts from the plates or to assemble them (ingenious!).
- To make the gears slippery, you rub the gears with a candle and some parts have to be "deburred". I ran right out and got a file and a candle and used them for a long time until I realised: There was sandpaper and a candle in the package at the very bottom! (Really embarrassing, I probably should have looked at everything carefully first!)
- You really don't need any tools, at most a knife to cut through a single cable tie, or to cut a toothpick in half (which you can also break off).
- The wooden boards are optimally used and very sensibly divided. You don't have to keep switching back and forth between the 9 boards to get the parts for the next step. With a few exceptions, the boards are processed one after the other.
The construction:
- This has been my very first craft project, which I have attempted.
-Nevertheless, I had no problems assembling it. You just have to follow the beautifully illustrated instructions and read the few additional texts carefully. Once I didn't pay close enough attention and mixed up two parts that looked almost the same (see picture "mistake").
The time estimate:
5-9 hours are given as a rough guide, I needed 8.5h, including disassembling the ball and assembling it correctly.
Therefore, the times are realistic.
My tip: It is better to work a little slower, but without mistakes! Disassembling the ball took a lot of time.
Real use as a clock:
At the moment, I cannot say whether the clock can really be used as such.
- The fact is that my clock is currently running 5 minutes per hour too fast.
- It is possible to readjust the speed" of the clock by means of a slider, but it remains to be seen whether it is possible to set it more precisely than 1 min/day.”
