“I was attracted to this picture because it evoked a sweet memory. My parents recently passed away and my son purchased their home. There is a yard lantern and houses very similar across the street from that home. I spent many snowy winters, as a child, in that home! This painting was fun to reproduce because there was snow on the ground as I painted. Each painting just brings joy!”
“Warmth of Winter was very challenging as a beginner. If I had paid closer attention to the details in the painting I would have opted to wait to do it until I had more experience under my belt. I tended to paint over numbers for near by areas and some were so small that I could not read them on the instruction sheet. It is a beautiful painting even though I have some errors. I have completed a few others since this one and my approach has changed. I've decided to paint the smallest areas first and work my way out to the larger areas as I go. This seems to work best for me. I don't have it framed or stretched yet but plans are in the works.”
“The canvas is good quality. Not thin. Takes Guesso well. Paints are plenty and smooth. Only a few are see through. The lines and numbers on the canvas are easy to see, but lite, making it less difficult to cover with the paints. I used the paint, thinned way down, to stain the frame I made for one of the pictures.”
“This piece turned out beautifully. I am very pleased with the quality. I'm deducting one star because of a few colors that I think should be edited. Firstly, there is only one green color provided and that is a light green. The pine branches shown on the artist's painting shows various colors of dark green in these branches in addition to the light green. The colors indicated on the paint by number are black and grays. I believe this is due to the limitations of the number of colors provided. I substituted some greens I had on hand from other kits for this. Secondly, the colors on house gable end to the left of the gable with the wreath is too dark. The artist's painting shows lighter colors. I substituted with a few other colors provided in the kit. I also added some detail to the birds to more closely resemble the artist's painting.
Like others, I had coverage issues with the blues and red/orange/yellows. Also like others, I found that there were areas with no numbers which upon very, very close inspection with a magnifying glass are connected to other areas that do have numbers.”
