“This was my third Masterpiece By Numbers effort and by far the most challenging painting due to the amount of detail.
At the same time, it was rewarding and such a beautiful and colorful piece! One thing I enjoy when doing these paintings is how they slowly 'come alive' over a stretch of days as you complete each color, sort of like when a fog lifts. For those attempting this painting, I highly recommend getting the 'sold separately' brush set. I don't mind the 'stock' brushes as much as many commenters seem to, but this painting is just too detailed for the stock brush kit. The sold separately brush kit has some finer tipped brushes that fit the bill for this painting. As far as paint thickness, I'm OK with the supplied paints. If a certain color isn't opaque enough to fully cover the lines, then there are two options...either apply the paint thicker or go back and cover the lines. It's not unlike having to paint the walls of my house...one coat might not be enough. I gave this four stars instead of five for two reasons 1) the paint colors didn't match the example as well as they should have and caused a couple of my birds to be a little bit off, and 2) the sheer amount detail gets frustrating, expecially the whites in the fence slats where there are five, yes FIVE, different shades of white. However, in the end, the effort was worth it because this is a very beautiful painting that I'm very proud to have completed.”
