“I have a pretty high end Telescope and I ended up getting a camera for that too, basically a webcam for the Telescope.
I can tell you one thing, that is far from it when it comes to Microscopes. All I can say is DONT go cheap if you want something descent. The level of technology I see that is required inside these cameras is amazing. it is easy to install, comes with all the needed peripherals to get started and the software is streight forward to install (for windows). I was up and running in about 5 min of setting everything up.
I ended up going with the top end camera because as I mentioned before on the site, there is so much information there, they even had pictures of the quality of each one. If you are doing this privatly on your computer or laptop, I would go high end, I feel the lower MP's cameras would be more suited for classrooms \ TV's \ Projectors.
The level of detail was really really high. I could see things swimming around in my sample (cat spit) that I wish I didnt know where there haha.
