Hornady TAP® Reduced Recoil™ (blue hull) is a lower-velocity load designed primarily for pump action shotguns. It comes loaded in a blue hull with a load delivering a velocity of 1,100 fps out of a 30" test barrel. NOTE: Hornady has color coded hulls for both loads. The Reduced Recoil load has a blue hull (Blue for Cool) and the Light Magnum® has a red hull (Red for Hot).

“As an individual with quite a few number of years behind me, shooting low recoil 12ga 00 buckshot is much more comfortable on my shoulder than your typical buckshot load. Although I've been very satisfied with Federal's low recoil 00 buckshot, I continue looking for alternatives. Hense, Hornady's TAP reduced recoil 12ga OO buckshot. I had reservations as to whether they would cycle my FN SLP semi-auto, but was still willing to try them out. Unfortunately, I was right. They do not have enough power to cycle the bolt, despite the low power piston installed in the rifle. But all is well as I will use them in my pump rifle. With respect to the rounds themselves, they definitely exhibit reduced recoil while maintaining an excellent spread pattern on an 18x30 inch range target at 20 yds. Although this is in no way a scientific evaluation, I would not hesitate to use or recommend Hornady TAP 12ga 00 buck for self defense. An excellent choice.”

“I run these in my beretta 1301. I’m sure many semi autos can’t run these but the beretta does with zero problems and feels like your running 1 oz bird shot. Super light recoil”

“I have used Hornady Ammo for 40 years and it's just the best that I have ever tried and they always have a very reasonable price!!!! Love this stuff best shooting most accurate and the ability to stop animals dead in there tracks when hunting !”
