Southlands Thylacoleo figurine stands on three legs, with it's front right leg lifted in an attacking and agressive pose. The jaw of this extraordinary toy animal is open revealing his wombat-like top and lower teeth. With fine hair details and a hand-painted finish, this 1:15 scale Thylacoleo Carnifex is a must-have figurine for any collector! The Thylacoleo (also known as a Marsupial Lion) was the largest carnivorous (meat eating) marsupial to have ever lived on earth. It had large stabbing incisors and 4-6 cm long shearing blades on the side of the jaw that slid against each other like a pair of scissors. The Thylacoleo also featured an oversized thumb claw that would have been used for grabbing it's prey but also enable it to climb trees in order to ambush and attack from above. Pound for pound it had what was possibly the most powerful bite of any mammal, living or extinct - roughly equivalent to today's African lion. Southlands Replicas SR00001 Thylacoleo Carnifex, Released 2016. Approx: 12.7 x 3 x 6.3cm (LWH) Suitable for ages 3+. Made from PVC, painted with non-toxic acrylic paints.
