It's a great game, very puzzly and thinky. You'll be deciding where to place your animal tokens while thinking about how you want your landscape to change as the game goes on. Getting those pine cone tokens will be a huge benefit as you'll have much more flexibility to get what you want for your landscape. The goal cards are great to keep you focused on how to win, so you'll never play the same game twice as the goal cards will change every time you play. Solo mode is very relaxing.

Reminds me of a more complex version of my childhood favorite game “Rivers, Roads & Rails”. Easy to teach and learn.

While I enjoyed playing Cascadia, it's ultimately a bit too simple for me; definitely in the camp of "I'd play it if a friend had it, but not something I need to own." For an animal-centric game, I'd rather default to Wingspan; for tile laying, I prefer classic Alhambra; and for a relaxing game, Tokaido or something like The Fox in the Forest. Biggest compliment I can give is that it's a great game to play with people you don't know, as the relaxing pace is perfect for table talk.

An excellent family game with surprisingly layered strategy. My wife and daughter really enjoy the theme.

This game is fun, simle, complrx all tied together. It deserves the top game of the year. Sime rules with two stage scoring makes strategy a must. Di i build my fish or soar with the hawks or watch for bears. Do i build my grass areas or rivers. So many ways to play and win or just relax and enjoy the process.

Elegant, quick, and perfect to introduce non-gamers to board games

This Spiel des Jahres winner ultimately gets compared to Calico and for good reason. This is a more streamlined but just as complex little puzzler that is fun to play and also looks great too!
