I was skeptical but glad I made the purchase. The paints take a little getting used to but have served me very well overall. I would purchase them again.

As someone who has never before dabbled in mini painting, these SpeedPaints by the Army Painter are a lifesaver. Not only am I not well versed in the techniques, but I have very little time to dedicate to the art. These paints allow me to, after a base coat, truly give a one coat pass to have well-colored minis in no time. They definitely won't win any awards without much more work, but if you need something to take grey minis to color quickly so you can start playing with them, these are the paints for you.

I am loving these speed paints. They pull away from high points and collect in low spots naturally forming highlights and shadows on their own. This is a game-changer for my painting. It doesn't behave exactly like regular paints so I am having to re-learn how to use them but the results are fantastic.

Watched a few youtube reviews before buying this. Glad I bought these! Little bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out you can really bang out the models!

The colors are vibrant and pigment-rich. I find they respond similarly but superiorly to contrast with less of a molted look you can get from Contrast paints sometimes. The only thing to be aware of is that they can reactivate even if dry if you dont clear coat over them before you painted over some colors with other paint.

I'm not an artist, I'm not trying to make little works of art but I do want my play pretties to look good on the table. I can use these paints too pretty much do figure in one coat. It pools in the cracks and dips and gives the area a shaded look. My minis look better and I'm spending less time on any one of them. One or two of the colors leave a little bit to be desired, like heretic yellow, but overall they've quickly become my favorite paints!

Paints shade great but you can't overpaint them with another color otherwise they reactivate, even after waiting days. So if you wanted to do a light color highlight (like white over blue) it will just all run together.

First, don't think of these as Contrast clones, they are not. They are their own product, not Contrast Clones. There are tons of reviews on YouTube. The big thing that may be an issue is they can reactivate when painted over. Army Painter recommends giving them a light coat of spray-on varnish before painting any additional highlights. The big thing for me is they seem to work much nicer over larger flatter areas like cloaks and seem to have less tea staining on flatter surfaces that Contrast. Not to mention they are a heck of a lot cheaper.
