I love the one coat process of basecoating and shading in this speedpaint. It does add speed by subtracting a step. However it dries more slowly than citadel contrast. But for half the price on avg per bottle as compared to contrast paints its an A in my book

Army Painter Speed Paints are a great tool for people looking to get models painted quickly to a reasonable standard. Simply prime your models black, zenithal highlight or drybrush a lighter color over top, then carefully apply the Speed Paints. You can then add a few additional highlights if you like, or just call it done and get to gaming. Very satisfied with their performance so far. I found myself having more fun painting with these then I have in a long time.

These are great to get minis painted fast and looking pretty good with little effort. I still like to follow up with some traditional Vallejo paint afterward for some detail, but the Speedpaint set gives a great first color (after a priming base coat) with some simple shadow and highlight.

These have gotten me started painting again after years away from mini painting. Great buy!

As with so many of the Army Painter products I've tried, it seems to fall short. I feel like every AP product I've ever used requires an asterisk to explain the inherent shortcomings. While it does provide a "one coat" painting solution, the stuff doesn't really seem to cure. Dry, yes - but cure? No. So if you want to add additional paint over it, you seal it. And if that additional paint is Speedpaint - you have to seal it again before adding more. (Watch Juan Hidalgo's video on YT.) I also wasn't really impressed with how it went on. It's a bit too thick. It works fine if you're after a "one coat, seal it, get it to the tabletop" process. But if you like the flexibility that GW's one coat solution brings - this is not a cheaper alternative. It's a "less than".
