Furnace is a solid, simple engine-builder, where the order your cards produce is key to maximizing your output. I like the auction phase, where it's sometimes preferable to lose the bid to get benefit on the top of the card. Makes for interesting decisions. The game has beautiful and thematic artwork, and I like the chunky bidding tokens. On a complexity level of engine builder, it's higher than say, Splendor, but much less than Terraforming Mars. It hits a sweet spot for us, taking about 15 minutes a player. The one drawback I will note is that playing with only two players, you have to have a "dummy" player, who bids based on a die roll. at 3-4 players, the game shines.

Love how bidding helps with both acquiring companies and resources. The second portion of the round allows you to figure out how best to allocate recourses to get the most money. Also nice that mine is victory points so it is easy to sum up points at the end of the game. It has a very slick and smooth feel to it. I recommend this game highly.

Furnace is a fun and quick engine building game. Sort of reminded me of Res Arcana. But the simple bid system makes this unique and very fun. Plays fast, sets up fast. Really enjoyed this one!

Furnace is a great little engine building game that doesn’t last that long but has solid gameplay. Engine building in that you are acquiring cards that convert resources into other resources all in an effort to score points. Each round you get more cards that activate with others you already have. After four short rounds the game is over but it’s a lot of fun during those rounds. The true star o f the fame is the auction mechanism that you bid on cards but if you don’t win the bid there is compensation so sometimes you don’t want to win the card just want the compensation but other players may thwart that. Great game in a small box. Fun gameplay with great decisions to be made. Recommended!

A pretty quick game once we got the gist of it I nonetheless found myself sweating every decision trying to figure out how to wring the maximum efficiency out of my growing engine. The art on the cards is fantastic.

This is a great streamlined engine building game. The bidding mechanic is perfect as it is paired with a compensation reward. The engine activation phase offers deep strategy. Having 4 rounds means this is quick and easy to play multiple times in a row.

I have never been a fan of auction/bidding games - but the quick play and positive rewards for not winning the bids made it very enjoyable!! I love building and running my engine!
