“I enjoy Beyond the Sun but thematically it felt a bit abstract. When hearing Cranio was going to re-work the core mechanisms into Beyond the Horizon I was excited for the change in theme and thought they would also use this as a chance to improve the overall look of the game (because Beyond the Sun is not much to look at).
Overall while I still enjoy the tech-tree part of the game, tying it to a more historic theme actually seems fairly weak, and the components are just as plain looking as Beyond the Sun. Disappointed that all the building tiles have the same artwork, and the technologies don't have any artwork (aside from their category icon). From a visual standpoint, looks like a game from 10+ years ago, with clip-art style iconography.
Gameplay is still fun though.”
“Action selection game, in which you slowly progress your civilization though a tech tree. Allowing for better and improved actions, to get better at taking actions.
Not a complex game. The varitety of tech options makes it fun and diverse. Ever game is different and every player ends up with a complety unique set of actions.”
