Arnak is a great game and it is made better by the expansion that adds asymmetric player powers. I would teach the game to be players using the expansion as having the player powers gives players something to focus on. The extra cards are great, and the added research board adds to the over all repeatability of the game. It's hard to say it's an essential expansion because the base game is great, but I'm never going to play it again without the asymmetrical player boards so maybe it is.

My review is based on EXPERIENCE playing Lost Ruins AND watching Reviews on 'Expansion'. I really enjoy Lost Ruins that I'm always eager to bring it out to the table. I know that Leaders will be fantastic. There is so much to choose on the expansion, it fits on the 'core box' for the game (if space is a problem). And after review and review read and watch I'm confident this will add more excitement. I tend to NOT get expansions, but this one had to make the cut.

Integrates well with the base game and adds a log of alternatives for a play through. The variable player powers are super well done.

As others have reviewed and YouTube commentary, the expansion is a fantastic expansion as the adding of profession player boards cannot be underestimated. Each player will now have a side management and game play that is unique and does not duplicate any other effects that we noticed. The addition of the double sided research track is also fantastic and additional tiles were welcome. This worker placement and resource management game benefits greatly from this expansion. Quality of printing is too notch. Highly recommended.

This expansion adds a good amount of content that I feel is well worth the price. The asymmetric start keeps things interesting for many plays to come. Is this expansion absolutely necessary? No, but mainly because Arnak was already a great game.
