I have not played the game because I don't know anyone that plays WoK but the figures look good. Lots of putting together though. One figure has 7 pieces.

I don't really know how good the gameplay is, but I had to rate them all so I gave gameplay a 5. As far as everything else goes, I purchased this box for $9 intending to just have fun painting the mini's and using them for Dungeons and Dragons. So at my $9 investment I got several miniatures of good quality that will look great on my battle mat. Definitely gets 5 stars, but honestly I wouldn't had paid $60 for this considering I don't know the game. If it is a game you enjoy or even if you have a specific use for the miniature's it's comes to $4 per mini which isn't all that bad, and that's at full price which most of the time it isn't.

Currently priced at $12(!!!), I picked my copy up at $18 and it was a steal. Comes with everything needed to get a small introductory game going. Model assembly is easy, although the Rathor's torso and hips required a fair amount of shaving down of the peg for a good fit and the odd Goritsi head didn't like to sit well. The models themselves are loaded with character and are thoroughly enjoyable to build and paint. Rules are easy to learn on the fly (though I had purchased the rulebook separately for additional reference, you could probably get by with demo game content online if needed). Gameplay itself is very balanced with the tide of battle shifting back and forth as you and your opponent take turns activating individual models or units. No "I move everything then you move everything" as seen in WarmaHordes or Warhammer. Combined Activations provide a very interesting and tactically deep management system for units that differentiates the game as a whole from the aforementioned competitors without getting bogged down. At less than $20 on sale, this is a no-brainer if you're the least bit interested in the setting or a general fan of fantasy wargames.

CMON gives us another straightforward skirmish game with style to spare. The models are made from "restic" or a plastic and resin mixture. Despite this, the details are so crisp and the models themselves resilient and a pleasure to build. Each box in the range, be it starters, specialists or otherwise- each one is jam packed with highly detailed, easy to build models. This is a game I didn't know that I wanted. 5 stars, get it while you can.

I picked up this game on a whim.did I really need another fantasy game? Well, I'm hooked. This is a nice starter box. Enough figures to fight a quick battle.....and things do die quickly in WOK. The mechanics are simple enough. Roll your melee or range die on the back of your card and compare the results to your opponents defense chart. Simple. But each figure has special abilities to help change the defense chart making it easier or harder to hit. The key is the abilities. Compare hits to resilience (most only have one, some have two) you must hit the number of times of the resilience in order to place a wound ( res 2- you must hit twice in order to make one wound) Not a lot of math and charts in this game. That makes it a well thought out intro game. some rules are a little unclear but there are loads of videos out there to clarify things, but this is really minor. This starter comes with just one double sided explanation of rules. Even the core rulebook is devoted mainly to the factions. Just a small part is rules. Very easy to pick up and throw down a game. The figures are very easy to put together. Each one Has a key shape to make sure the right part goes in the right place. And all parts fit together without a whole lot of seem. Some minor modifications , shaving plastic, etc can be done to get a perfect fit. Some small mold line on some figures but this is very minor. Most of the characters have excellent dramatic poses which is always a plus for miniature games. CMON did a great job with this game. My only complaint is that there is not a lot of background included ablut why the factions are fighting. The main rulebook gives some basic ideas though. Not much included in this starter game

Got this box some time back and have been happy ever since. This is a great way to see if this game may or may not be the type of game that you could see playing with your friends. For the size of the army's and evey thing that you get in the box, it's worth getting if you're curious about how it plays and the look of the models, plus the rules as well.

Okay. From what i've seen this looks good. The only problem I have is it looks like you don't get many figures with this starter as opposed to Warhammer where you get a lot. It does come with some other good things like terrain templates. I recommend this as it is a good sounding intro to WoK.
