Wrath of Kings: House Shael Han - Starter Box (24) Reviews

It was a war no one wanted at the worst possible time. Ancient King Arikan's throne, empty these last five centuries, had remained beyond the Scion Kings' reach, yet always in their thoughts. Centuries passed. Three Scions died. And the two remaining heirs drew secret plans for decisive actions, a quick and limited conflict. But hidden hands tugged the tapestry, and unseen players altered the game. A war between brothers now engulfs five nations as rules great and small vie for the Empyrean Throne. In the end, only one shall ascend. Only one shall rule. One one shall survive the Wrath of Kings.Plastic components.Contents:12 Dragon Legion2 Dragon Legion Keeper6 Wrath2 Big Sister1 Hammer of Heaven1 Shield of TaelfonStat CardsMiniatures are supplied unpainted. What a great starter box for a really fun game!

Every last one of these sculpts are great. The Big Sisters are a bit too pin-uppy for me, but some might like them more. The large belt ornaments on the ogre-looking guys are very poorly fit to their slots’ so be prepared for a lot of filing.

Amazing models just wished they come with normal bases

So much! I mainly got them for the weapons to use for other figures but the figures themselves are not bad. The set has so many that I can chop some up and still have a Frostgrave set as well! As soon as I got the set I cut off a Kwan Dao to put on a Infinity figure.

An Asian and steampunk-inspired faction, Shael Han works best when leaders can provide extra boosts to their troops by being nearby. If you are interested in Wrath of Kings, you can have legitimately fun games with just two starters. If not, you get a nice assortment of fantasy troops that you could use for units in Saga: Age of Magic, Dragon Rampant, or Kings of War to name a few. At the current price, the starters are a good value; when MM decides to discount them for a sale, the value goes from good to ridiculously good. One caveat- the included bases are deep wells, meaning they are intended for base fillers. If you aren't planning to DIY these with putty or another filler, you'll need 17 30mm bases and 7 40mm bases, or the same number of base fillers from Death Ray Designs.

I found this set excellent and well designed, I appreciated the unique character designs and articulate details. However I did not enjoy assembly aspect of this product. Building and gluing the many pieces was far too time consuming. Some of the pieces were too small to handle, making assembly rather difficult.

I really like the models in this set. However, some of the Wrath's leg positions are to big for the base. I was able to fix it with because I wanted them on a custom rocky style base anyways. But someone looking to put in minimal effort might not like it.

All of the WoK minis i have so far are gorgeous and detailed and well made. The Shael Han did have a few more assembly fit issues than the ravenwood starter box or my teknes units (just needed a little extra glue to fill the gaps. and the swordsmen arms are delicate so they were hard to figure out exactly which angle they go. But i would still recommend anything from this product line. they give you enough leaders for 4 ranks of leaders/minions (2 legion and 2 wrath, but only 2 specialists? I don't see how you could play a even with a 2 rank game, you'd have to use extra minions instead of specialists, and i don't see how you could play a 3 rank game without buying extras. (would have been better to drop a wrath/sister squad for a specialist or two) I still recommend
