“I backed this game on KS and it came in the mail recently. I'm a fan. It's shelf, table, and budget-friendly as well as family-friendly. I enjoy the artwork as well as the theme, but was not a fan of the folding page rulebook.”
“It’s a very nice game with a fun aesthetic. The game play is certainly more complex than the theme and art suggest, but plays nicely for new and more experienced gamers.”
“This game is great! It has a bunch of unique and fun mechanics, such as the Weather phase, where players all play cards and draw resources from the same pool in order to grow their plants. I'd highly recommend!”
“Cute and light! My gf loves the art and theme, and I love the puns and mechanics! Card quality is much higher than expected. The designer is also highly recommended by us!”
“Plantopia is an interesting drafting and leveling up kind of game. It's a little tricky to explain the rules to first time players, definitely easier to play through example than to verbally explain. Once everyone catches on the game feels immersive and competitive. Each type of plant has pros and cons so strategy definitely comes into play. The only rule no one seemed to take advantage of was the drawing 5 mechanic. Because we start with so many cards and are allowed to draw one each turn (as well as some of the plants having draw card abilities), nobody ever ran out of cards through any of our playthroughs. Overall, while not the easiest game to understand right off the bat, plantopia is a unique and strategic type of drafting/world building card game. Enjoyable for all once the leveling up systems are understood.”
