It took us (my wife and I) way too long to get this game and we are so happy we did! The art is amazing and while it is competitive, it is so relaxing and beautiful it doesn’t even feel like your competing.

Elegant game, beautifully crafted. The bird theme is very appealing. Offers interesting facts about birds, if you're so inclined to read them as you play. Complex game, with lots to think about as you work your way through each round. Opportunities to develop a game strategy, a variety of ways to gain points, but also an element of luck to keep you on your toes. The element of luck can help even the playing field for players of differing abilities. The Swift Start Park somehow didn’t make it easier for us to learn the game, so we moved on to playing with the entire set. The game design does take some getting used to because of its complexity and the way you approach the game board differently depending on what action you choose for each turn. As an older, less accomplished game player, I find this a bit disconcerting, but overall a very enjoyable game.

Winghaven is a nice casual machine building game where you get to play with cubes and dice and look at birds. Randomness exists but generally is minimized making wins generally feel deserved and losses not feel like you were cheated.

Wingspan is a fun game to play with my wife. The cards are all unique and well illustrated. The games are easy to play and with so many birds always different. The one draw back is there are times that the food and birds don't line up making it feel like the game can hit a stall, but otherwise the way the ecosystem mechanic works adds a lot of fun.

We honestly weren't sure about Wingspan before we bought it, and passed on it several times in recent months. But we kept seeing it prominently displayed in reviewer's backgrounds in videos and on game store shelves, so we finally decided to pick it up from Miniature Market with a couple of other games we were buying. We were really glad we did. The artwork and details on the cards are great, for starters. We also enjoyed the gameplay mechanic and how the resources, cards or eggs, you gather on a turn can increase as you play more bird cards, and we liked the way you "activate" skills on birds during a turn. I agree with one reviewer I saw who said that there are many different ways you can go to win the game depending on what cards you get at the beginning of the game, and I definitely saw that in the first two plays. In the first play, my wife ended up with several birds that could "store" cards under them for extra points at the end of the game, and went that route. I, on the other hand, ended up with opportunities to play birds worth high point values, so I went the route of playing as many high value birds as I could. The second time we played, her path ended up being having lots of eggs, and mine was having 3 different bonus cards and playing specific birds to meet those and get the bonus points at the end of the game. I won the first game by 4, she won the second by 3, so both were close. In short, we really enjoyed it, honestly a lot more than we thought we would before we bought it. We have played with just 2 so far and agree that for us it makes a good 2 player game, but we hope to get our kids to play in the near future and see what they think of it as well.

This is a really amazing game. If you like engine building and games that aren’t terribly competitive, this is for you. Excellent family game. It’s simple, but has enough depth to scratch that strategy itch. Such a great theme, beautiful to look at. Everything feels quality in the hands as well.

This game plays very well. It is very simple, yet slightly cumbersome to teach to new gamers. The swift-start pack is effective but more time-consuming than a decent explanation of the rules. So much replayability that I think I can wait a couple years to pick up any expansions.

Love it! Beautiful board, dice tower, cards, etc. There's some luck involved (e.g., will you get the right food sources? The bird cards you want/need?) but there's definitely the opportunity for strategy development. Fun with new players since the turn mechanics are pretty simple.
