Apple iPhone 8 Reviews

4.5 Rating 404 Reviews
This is my fourth iPhone in 9 years, and I am not proud of that fact. As MacBook and iPad owner I have become an Apple slave. I didn't buy this phone for any other reason than it's just too bloody difficult to escape from the Apple OS prison, something the worlds most profitable company has worked very hard to engineer. The phone itself is OK, but experience would indicate that it will only be a matter of months before it becomes slow and battery intensive, like the iPhone 6 it replaced. For a device 3 generations newer, it offers very little innovation, in fact nothing new that I need or want, just a few gimmicks designed mostly to ensure I maintain my iMusic account (I won't), buy more apple licensed products (wireless earphones, fast charger, wireless charger; it's all just an incredible exploitation of loyal/stupid/lazy customers. I even have to buy more storage on the iCloud, as iTunes is so useless now, this was the only way I could transfer the data from my old phone, which was anything but a slick process. Unless Apple massively up their game, this will definitely be my last iPhone, in fact I kick myself for not taking the plunge with the Google Pixel 2 this time around. The inconvenience of transferring onto a new platform could not have been much worse than the frustration of getting this device working properly.

Dated & boring design but much faster than the iphone 6 I had. But I now know Apple will slow down even this after some time. Already regretting this purchase.

Super powerful processor and great camera allied to slick iOS. Easy transfer from old iPhone 5 to 8 compared to my wife with her android upgrade. Great screen slightly marred by large bezel but couldn’t justify the cost of the iPhone X! Battery life much improved and love wireless charging. Almost perfect. The only blot is some of my favourite apps are not currently compatible with iOS 11.

Customer service is something that’s unifying across all business, be it that you sell mobile phones or cheese. The level of customer service I received would suggest that mobiles.co.uk have cheese for brains. To be clear, I did my best not to be ugly disgruntled customer. But when, after 2 weeks of not getting my order, and being told that because “it hadn’t been delivered, I couldn’t get a refund”, I am a bit lost as to how I could ever write anything that isn’t ugly and negative. After asking to speak to management about a refund, I was told that my ‘request for escalation’ had been raised. Several days later, I spoke to someone senior, told with delight that my handset would be with me tomorrow. However, I was instructed that I would have to contact the network to sort out the number/contract, as for some reason that burden of the service I paid for now fell on me. It baffles me how bad the service was. I understand that the courier takes the blame for the parcel not arriving. However for mobiles.co.uk to make it my problem to solve makes me question exactly what I was paying for? So after I cancelled the order that never arrived, I tried to order again, so I could get the same deal without having to sort out the contract with the network separately. I was rejected during the credit check, as my account had to much activity from the same supplier. This has been validated with my bank, which they found hilarious when I explained the situation to them. Hopefully, lessons have been learnt both ends during this whole process. Mine is to never use mobiles.co.uk again, and encourage anyone else I can to avoid where possible. Perhaps their lesson could be that if they offer such an awful service, maybe stop the automated “how did we do? Please review us!” email that prompted me to write this a month later. I look forward to the next time I buy a phone, where I will go to anyone not affiliated with mobiles.co.uk and actually get what I pay for at the time agreed.
