“After years on Apple I have made the shift to Android. I was furious with Apple with regard to some of their operating practices (such as deliberately slowing older model products).
I was worried I would find Android difficult to get familiar with as a friend had made the same switch to a Samsung phone and found the layout and operating idiosyncrasies quite hard to get to grips with.
However I was determined to make the switch so I did some extensive research and decided that the Pixel 2 was the phone for me.
I couldn't be happier, seriously. Apple is fine if your happy being a slave to hipster fashion, paying over the odds for your contract and playing in Apples walled garden. But I can tell you that right from opening the Pixel2 was intuitive, simple to use, SO damn fast and a real quality item.
I was concerned about build quality as I have always felt that Android phones like Samsung lack the sturdy feel of an Apple phone. The Pixel 2 has that same quality feel as an Apple device but gives you so much freedom compared to Apples operating systems.
Transferring all my contacts and apps over couldn't have been easier and when I opened the apps they looked and felt so much more impressive than the Apple versions.
Now to 'that' camera. It is amazing. Just amazing. And with no limits on your photo storage you can snap away until your hearts content.
Call quality is crystal clear and the phone seems to pick up WiFi, 4g and phone signal far better than my old I phone too.
Battery life is stunning and craps all over the I phone.
The fingerprint recognition button being mounted on the back of the phone is an ergonomic master stroke.
As if all that weren't enough I have SLASHED my monthly bill. I did pay £125 up front but now get unlimited calls and texts, plus 5g of data for £27.99 a month!
For me the black bezel that all the critics panned really didn't matter, but if your really that bothered buy the XL version.
I genuinely think this phone marks the coming of age for Android OS phones.

“After reading several reviews and hearing some critical feedback, I took out a contract for the Pixel2 and am not dissappointed. The camera is fantastic, and video is sharp. There is a slight colour hue to the screen when viewing off angle - but it's not as bad as people make out.
This is one fast phone - responsive and nimble. Switching to the PIxel2 from my old Xperia Z3 was simple. All my data was transferred errortlessly.
Two months on and still doing well.”
“I've had my phone over a month now and I love it. Only problem I've had is that my phone started draining 10% battery an hour when in standby but turned off NFC and it went back to normal. Hopefully there will be an android update to fix this. Otherwise phone is very fast, fingerprint scanner is in comfortable place even with case on. Came with adapter to use earphones through charge slot which works fine.”
