“I have had HTC phones since the iPhone came out here in the UK. I have only switched because of the timing of the U12+ launch. I miss some of the HTC features, but this is a solidly good phone (as it should be coming from Google - designed by some of the team behind the HTC phones).
The screen-to-body size is excellent, and inline with other phones of the moment, but it still finds room for front-facing speakers.
It is quick, and the 128GB version has plenty of space. I have always added SD Cards to previous phones for additional media - since this phone has no slot, I have gone for the 128GB.
The finger-print-scanner could be a little lower on the back - it just seems a little to far up, even for my massive hands.
Everything works exactly how it should, and battery life is great too.
The supplied charger has a lead with USB-C at both ends, which means you'll need another cable if you want to charge via USB (Planes / Trains / Automobiles / charge packs / poker tables).
Also you will need Bluetooth headphones if you want to charge and listen at the same time - this is the one thing that keeps this from being a 5 star phone. Please phone-makers - we spent lots of money on our earphones & headphones - please please please can we have our 3.5mm jack back!
The HTC 0ne M8 was probably the best phone on the market when it came out - yet it did not sell (Don't believe me - read the reviews). Google bought some of the team which produced that phone, and you can tell. There are subtle clues that the same people are behind this phone, but this time marketing is from Google so it should be a hit.”
