“Bought as a replacement for my S7 edge (which I dropped and marred the screen).
I was planning on getting a note 9 but the price put me off - the S9 (on mobiles.co.uk) was just so much cheaper and approx the same size as my existing phone.
The S9 is certainly an upgrade on the S7 but it is incrementally better rather than a huge leap forward.
The standout feature for me has been how quick the fingerprint reader is on the back - whilst the face recognition/iris scanning appears to work fine I seem to just use the fingerprint on the back since my finger naturally falls there when I pick the phone up.
Still hunting for a theme I like but I'm sure I'll eventually settle on one - do like little touches such as the distance effect which "floats" the icons over the background but this is hardly a reason to buy the phone just a "oh look how cool" feature..
My only complaint / con so far has been with EE rather than the phone (which arrived promptly, when they said it would etc etc). I was with EE before and wanted to keep my number - going to EE and asking for an upgrade was so way off (it was over double both upfront and per month costs) this offer that I had to use this.
But it turns out you can't use a PAC code generated by EE to import a number to EE. - PAC codes only work if you cross networks. So I had to faff around with a vodaphone £1 PAYG sim - PAC to that and then PAC back to this new contract with EE.
Sounds simple? It has worked (finally today my phone is on the correct number) but has been a week of hassle and annoyance which just shouldn't have to occur - this should be trivial to do EE not painful and time wasting..”
