This is a high quality chair inspired by the iconic chair originally created for the Pavilion of German Representation at the 1929 Universal Exhibition in Barcelona, Spain. Our exhibition chair was inspired by the Mies van der Rohe lounge chair known the world over as the Barcelona Chair Shown here with Espresso Brown leather, our frame is constructed from premium grade solid bar stock stainless steel. All joints are fully welded, sealed, and seamless. The frame is hand-polished to a mirror finish. Four snaps attach the back cushion to the frame 2 snaps and a belt attach the bottom cushion to the frame. The cushion surfaces consist of 40 individual top-grain leather panels each piece is cut and hand-sewn using a hand-rolling welting technique not found in other similar chairs on the market. The seat and back cushions are filled with high resilient - high density polyurethane foam that is CAL117 flame test rated. The cushions are supported by heavy saddle leather straps riveted to the frame and whose top and side edges match upholstery color. Front and top corners of the cushions have no exposed seams. Compared to the other similar chairs on the market, ours is much more comfortable

I looked at a few other Barcelonas on the web prior to ordering yours, some cheaper and some higher priced, and didn't see anything that I thought compared. I requested, and promptly received, leather swatches for the colors I was considering, the ordering process was seamless and my chairs arrived promptly, well-packaged and in flawless condition. And there’s a great selection of leather colors to choose from. I have two Knoll “licensed” Pavillion chairs in my other home and these from Modern Classics are constructed as well as those. Side-by-side, you’d be hard pressed to notice any difference.”

“I actually love my chair, the only problem is that I have never been able to fasten the snaps on the upright back cushion, so it slides around. Otherwise, quite happy.”

“Our chair and ottoman are beautifully made and the angle of it’s seat far more comfortable than other Barcelona chairs. I could not snap some of the upholstery snaps to the frame as they fit too tightly, but the cushions don’t slide around at all, so that detail really doesn’t matter.”
