The Womb Chair, was designed by Eero Saarinen in 1948 and is considered among the ten best mid-century modern furniture designs. Our Womb Chair is faithful to the original design, with a few minor improvements. For instance, we use a molded fiber-reinforced internal shell, not a plastic shell, then sculpt the North America sourced foam over that. Our legs are stainless steel, not chrome plated steel. Our fabric is made in North America, and is 100% polyester made from recycled plastic. This fabric is a textured or boucle surface and is extremely durable (250K double rubs) and is water and stain resistant.

“Really excellent quality (in fact, a friend has the original Saarinen version and I prefer this one!) Bought two of these and they are both very well made, the fabric stands up to our cats (who also love the chairs) and the customer service was super personalized and helpful. “This was a gift - the recipient (a family member) describes it as follows: "This is the most perfect chair I have ever sat in. My partner, dog, and I frequently vie for who gets what we refer to as "the throne." The texture is slightly nubbled yet very soft-there's something reassuring about it.
