“I happened upon the Mohinders website while searching for a replacement for my L L Bean boat shoes (now discontinued in light color). Because we are traveling to Greece and Istanbul this fall, I thought the Mohinders would be perfect for the climate and the setting.
When ordering, they repeatedly caution you to order one size down because the break in period will, following their recommendations, will give you the best, most comfortable fit. That may work if you normally wear a half size shoe. It did not make my size 11 feet feel comfortable in the size 10 shoes that I ordered.
Now 3 weeks into it and having gone so far as to wear well moistened "footies" to soften/stretch the leather, I decided to employ the Mohinders return program, intending to exchange them for size 11 shoes. Using my Mohinders account and accessing their Make a Return or Exchange tab, I was surprised to see that my purchase was not eligible for return! Admittedly, I happened to find the Mohinders site while they were having a half price sale, but I am only guessing that that's the reason that they won't process an exchange. There was no notice of "close-out" or "no returns or exchanges" on their web pages when I ordered and there is no such notation on their bill of sale.
I would not have purchased size 10 shoes had I known that they were not eligible for a size exchange. I am not a gambling man hoping that their "buy one size smaller" recommendation was accurate, just someone looking for a comfortable shoe.
It is interesting (frustrating?) to not that on this review page you can not just select "Too Small". It auto-fills the three boxes from just right to too small. That seems like a marketing ploy!”
“ordered a half size down as instructed. I’m a 10.5W but still too loose in the heel and too narrow to work. thin hard leather…maybe it breaks in, but not worth the price.”
“I found these to be super comfortable pretty much right out of the box, and they've only continued to soften up and become more-so over the first 3 weeks of use. The breeze runs right through them and they're the first close-toed shoes I've ever found that I can wear all day without socks and not have my feet become sweaty and uncomfortable. I walk in these a lot — I like that the sole is a bit thicker and provides good comfort and protection while still looking slim and unobtrusive.”
“The heel cup was not tall enough. They were like uncomfortable flipflops. No effort to stretch the heel cup worked. I've stopped wearing them entirely. An expensive error.”
