Even buying the crib mattress brand new, it still was less expensive than buying a ready-made extra-large dog bed. And this is a high-quality item. Attractive heavy-duty fabric choices, well sewn, with heavy-duty zippers. It's easy to get on and off. And, since there's a crib mattress inside, it's comfortable and waterproof.
