Hi, Thank you for the review. There are two versions of this robe- one is the lighter version which is the lower priced version (the one you ordered)- style 401-48-CHN. One is the heavier version, style 401-48-WAF, which is more expensive... which is probably the one you received as a gift. They both wash very well, but there is a difference in weight.
