Accurate Timekeeping, Elegant, Design
“In the looks department, this piece is a 10 out of 10. I love the brushed steel, cylindrical case. The absence of a logo gives it a mysterious air—is it a luxury timepiece or an off-brand junker? You can’t tell from afar, which adds some mystery and modesty. It keeps good time, too.
My main complaint is that it’s harder to read than most watches. Without numerals and without a logo, there’s nothing on the dial to orient you. The dial is completely symmetrical when viewed from any angle. I’ve never had a watch without numbers on the dial, so this has been hard to adjust to. I’m surprised by how often my first attempt to read the time is wrong, but I’ve found some strategies that make it easier.
This watch is a little more on the formal side. I think it looks somewhat out of place with shorts and a t-shirt (though I'd like to see if a canvas strap dresses it down), and I wouldn't risk taking it on a run or a hike. It's not a field watch.
I won't be wearing it every day, but I'm glad to have such an elegant, minimalist watch for days when I want to look my best.
As a vegetarian, I try my best to avoid animal products, and I appreciate that Mondaine is using vegan straps.”
