“My 4 year old loves to cook with me and has been using knives (with supervision) for a while now. I thought this would be a good way for me to not have to hover over her while she chops. While it's safe and easy for her to use, it doesn't chop anything but bananas or other soft foods. If she really pushes, she can cut a cucumber but she ends up getting frustrated and asking for a knife (and the food looks a mess). Carrots? No way. I'd recommend it for toddlers who are just practicing early kitchen work, and for chopping things like avocado and and bananas.”

“this chopper is good for children 4-6 yrs+ This tool is challenging for 2-3 yr ols, because they need to press from the top with the other hand, at times. Top of chopper should be flat and wider.”

“Its ok for the older children (3-6yrs). It makes it challenging and not in a positive way. Its almost a nuisance as you dont get enough of a grip to cut through the item.”

Dear Globe Trotter, This item has been a favorite in the classroom for years and we are very sorry that you and your children did not enjoy it. You do not indicate what age children you are using it with but it sounds like they may be younger than age 4. Because this product requires some hand strength, and because the blade is sharp, it is recommended for children age 4+. The handle should be grasped firmly in one hand and the blade should be pushed down through the food with the other hand. For safety purposes we always recommend adult supervision with this item.
