I use these in my classroom for fine motor development, attention to detail, and music enjoyment. You can even make mats to place them on for a "Name That Tune" type of activity. We use the birthday one on each child's birthday. When the music boxes arrived, my husband was fascinated with them! It took me a while before I was able to put them up in my teacher stuff!

I used it at my open close center. The kids worked on opening and closing a box, a jar and finally a coin purse. The coin purse was tricky and in order to encourage not giving up, I put the music boxes in the purse as a bonus. They enjoyed the boxes and had a great time guessing the tunes. Some sat there and just stared through the plexiglass, in awe, at how the music was made.

I used the music boxes for a matching work.(Matching the different tunes.) I love how they look, sound, and are built tough. The other teachers loved this work and I told them I got it from Small Hands Montessori Services.

We *had* to buy one for each of our preschoolers after my youngest had one in her toddler class. They just love to wind it and the high schoolers were even pretty taken with it because they could see and understand the mechanism it used to make the music. So fabulous and fun!

I originally bought these as Christmas stocking stuffers for my 6 and 1 year old. Thinking maybe my 8 year old might be interested, too, I decided to simpy set out a small basket with the six music boxes I had chosen. It was unwrapped in a nuetral location. On Christmas morning I waited to see who would notice and enjoy them. To my delight, each of my children eventually found and wanted one. Each chose one to keep, including my teenagers. I was very surprised the older children wanted one. I have noticed each child individually and slowly listening and enjoying the control given by the hand crank handle.

This year we got We Wish you a merry Christmas which was one of the songs we sing at our annual Sing-a-long. It was a great addition to our collection. Very good small motor work.

These are wonderful additions to birthday presents and stocking stuffers. They look beautiful and my 3 year old can't take it apart like the one's without the acrylic cover!

I bought this music box for my two year old son's birthday. He loves Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and this little box is just the right size for his tiny hands. He's very intrigued by the inner workings of the box as well. Excellent buy, I would recommend it to anyone.
