For a couple of years this book was very hard to find and copies had become very expensive. I am delighted to see that a third edition is now available at a reasonable price. I use it as a text when I teach Catechesis of the Good Shepherd courses for level 2 in particular.

This books is a classic and must read for every elementary teacher. Grounding the entire elementary experience inside Cosmic Education is a greater gift than anything you could give a child . . . nurturing a sense of connection and place inside the greatest adventure of all . . . an evolving emergent universe. The lessons of Cosmic Education will stay with them for a lifetime, making them citizens of the Universe with a kind of literacy that's exactly what the world needs now. Thank you Michael and D'Neil for writing this book and for keeping it up to date. Deep gratitude, Jennifer Morgan, author of the Universe Story Trilogy -- Born With a Bang, From Lava to Life, and Mammals Who Morph.

I earned my AMS lower and upper elementary teacher training in 2009 and we used this book in class. I have returned to it again and again, and have done each of the Great Lessons now, with my own small class of Chinese/Japanese/English immersion students at two local private Montessori schools. My experience was wonderful, and the kids were simply enchanted by the lessons and follow ups we did. The Duffy's writing is like a well of inspiration, a place to return to when wondering, "How does this Montessori curriculum really work? Has anybody ever really pulled this off?" The answer is yes, they most definitely have. I did it without much support, and wish I could have done more. Children privileged to go through classrooms where the Great Lessons are given the respect and time they really deserve are most fortunate indeed, and this book should help any teacher willing to walk the walk of Montessori philosophy.

Michael and D'Neil Duffy capture attention immediately. Guiding the reader toward understanding of the Montessori Great Lessons and the foundation of the elementary program as envisioned by Maria and Mario Montessori. This book is a must for anyone who truly wants to embrace the Montessori way. It is a great companion to the Montessori Method I and Montessori Method II.
