Comparable to softer stones at removing scratches during final polish and also for finishing the edge. I use this as a splash-n-go for awhile then as a soaker and find it does a little better when permasoaked. It's a bit of an awkward fit in my basin for permasoaking (the base adds about two inches on either side).

This stone is absolutely amazing. Knife edges look almost polished and the sharpest they have ever been. It's a must have stone!

Little bit expensive but very good stone. I like smooth feel. Natural stone is good for sharpening but too expensive. This one has some natural stone. I know many other Japanese chefs who use this stone. I recommend to others too.

i was intrigued by the nagura that comes with this stone. i don't quite understand how it works yet but this stone actually does have a soft touch compared to other stones. don't know quite how to describe it but it's a great stone for finishing.

I use Arashiyama for my Kasumi knives.
