This board is not too hard, so it won’t ruin your knife.

I have owned a different hinoki board for some time but disliked having to balance it on edge to dry. This thick board is not only a pleasure to use, the foot makes it easy to dry without the balancing act. It also allows the board to stand without leaning on my counter.

Well designed with little sliding piece that acts as a stand for easy drying and/or storage in vertical position. Almost too beautiful to use. The cypress aroma is lovely, too.

This is an Absolutely gorgeous single piece Hinoki Cutting Board! The board is made in Kochi Japan by Tosaryu. It is very difficult to find large single piece Hinoki cutting boards these days. In fact most cutting boards on the market are created from multilayered pieces to 1-inch pieces to for one board. These multilayered boards though beautiful tend to warp, bend and unglued over time. Single piece Hinoki are a little different. yes its wood and can warp and bend but with proper maintenance of cleaning and drying the board should last a long time. The unmistakable fragrance of the Shimanto Hinoki is unique and aromatic, resembling a pine type oder. This is the large board MTC sell and it is a beauty. The board is top notch and of very highly made quality! It is very thick, and a very sturdy construction. The corners are smoothed and rounded and the wood is smooth with the layers that pop out at you from every angle you hold the board. Truly spectacular in person! I loved the company logo, the leaves of the Shimanto Hinoki, etched into the board at the bottom corner. And the bonus it has a stand great for drying after use. Please note Hinoki boards secrete a natural sap-like secretion so that is not mystery glue or some strange glue its normal and smells nice. Amazing !!!
