“This review is for a dung loving mushroom grow bag from this company that I bought at a local shop. (I've since bought another directly from the website.) I got some spores from the same shop and made a liquid culture at home. Used 20cc of liquid culture to inoculate the bag. It took longer than expected to see any signs of growth even with the LC, but it happened and when it was maybe 20% colonized in a very concentrated area, I did a break and shake (3 weeks after inoculation). It recolonized VERY fast and I put it into fruiting conditions 8 days later. Eleven days after that, I was able to harvest my first very robust flush! (28oz fresh/1.4 oz dried). I'm now a few days away from harvesting a 2nd flush, which is so far looking to be maybe 60-70% of what the first one was - not too bad!! I'm hoping I can get a 3rd flush too, we'll see!
All in all, I'm very pleased with my first experience with an all-in-one bag and will continue to buy from this company as long as the quality continues to be good. There are some good videos on the website but unfortunately they do not cover all stages or all questions. When I first started my grow bag there were detailed written instructions which you can no longer navigate to without a direct link, but I found those instructions absolutely indispensable and I'm really glad I saved them. Hopefully they put them back up on the website.
Another thing I found was that a rubber band around the bag (even multiple rubber bands) really does NOT help with side pins as there's still enough space for them to form. I had tons of side pins on my first flush, so for my 2nd flush I used seran wrap to get the bag really tight against the brick of myceliated substrate and that's working a million times better.
Although it's not recommended anywhere in the instructions, I recommend billowing the bag 2-3x/day when it's in fruiting conditions to get some fresh air exchange - this seems to help.
Great experience overall! I'm really pleased with the yields from my first bag, and now I'm excited to keep growing more. I plan to stagger grows at different stages. These bags make it a lot easier and more convenient for people who may not have time or space in their home for a lot of DIY and equipment.
