Ogham script is the first known written language of the Irish. Each linear line represents a letter from the old Irish alphabet. We have oxidized or blackened the background to give it that 'old world' charm and used a highly polished texture on the rims to create a stunning combination of black and white. We have also added a Trinity Knot symbol to signify eternity and eternal love.
Ogham writing was first used on stones or boulders and dates back to the 5th century. The persons name who passed into the spiritual world was etched on the front of the stone to commemorate their passing. An interesting concept is the name reads from bottom to top, not top to bottom.There are many fine examples of Ogham stones still scatted around Ireland reminding us of wonderful history and heritage.
