We went on a half day trip with a teen and twin 10 year olds. This was an awesome experience with an experienced guide who was from Florida like we are. Our kids have not experienced whitewater rafting so this was a perfect beginner type trip. Our guide provided some excellent instruction on surviving in swift water. This is a "must do" if you are visiting the Asheville area. My opinion could be considered that of an expert as I am a tour guide in Florida. To the folks at Nantahala Outdoor Center, you provided a memorable and enlightening experience. Thanks for showing us the "French Broad" river on your whitewater adventure tour. We will be back.

This was a fantastic half day experience for our family to newby rafters. The staff was excellent and entertaining. Harrison was hilarious and knowledgeable with great charisma. Jenn was a great guide and added great context to the sights around us on the trip down. The trip was safe and exciting. I will definitely return next time we are in Asheville.

Easy to find location, with easy check in and areas to change clothes. Got our life jackets and sat to watch a safety video, then boarded buses to go up the mountain to the river. This was our second rafting trip and Mark was a great guide. Our trip was about three hours long and at about the halfway mark we skidded off a rock and from my spot first row right hand side l went overboard. The water is really cold 54 degrees. This was very scary, but our guide Mark did an excellent rescue job. The safety video advised you to float on your back, l forgot that part and I swam as fast as l could to the raft where l was able to grab onto the oar and was pulled back into the raft. It took a few minutes to catch my breath and calm down, but I was able to enjoy the rest of the trip. These things do happen, but it's nice to know NOC guides are ready and jump into action. I would do this adventure again, hopefully in the raft the whole trip.

I recently whitewater rafted with my college-aged son. This location is convenient to Asheville if visiting here. It's a great way to experience the river, be outside and see some beautiful scenery. The guides are engaging and qualified. The rapids were a bit tame for my taste though. And as a result, this is appropriate for children ages 8+ which means if you want a more adult experience, you may be interested in driving to a more challenging river.

Took my teenage daughter and son rafting on the French Broad River and had a great time. Tucker was a great guide. He gave us lots of information about the area and answered all of our questions. We got to jump off a 10 foot rock into the river and it was so refreshing. The rapids were just big enough and it was so much fun. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

It was our first time rafting. We loved it and can't wait to do it again. Justin and Joe were both great at checkin and as a guide.

Maris and her crew were great. This was my first time white water rafting and it was an excellent way to gently test the waters. There were rapids, but Maris was an expert in guiding us through them. Can't wait to return and try a full day on the river. Thanks for the memories.
